Entrepreneur Podcasts: Learn About Business and Startups

Entrepreneur Podcasts, Learn About Business and Startups

Before you get any further into this article, I must first disclose that I am the co-host of the Startup Hustle Podcast. Therefore, in some ways, my opinions will be REALLY credible and in other ways somewhat biased as I am certainly going to favor my own product over that of the competition. So, let’s just get that out of the way entirely before I make recommendations related to the Entrepreneur Podcasts produced by my peers.

A podcast created by entrepreneurs and startup founders, by entrepreneurs and startup founders. First launched in December of 2017, the Startup Hustle Podcast is hosted by myself, Matt DeCoursey and my business partner and co-host, Matt Watson. At the time of this article, our podcast has been listened to in 173 countries and comes out 3-4 times per week. We publish a variety of content, sometimes related to specific subjects and sometimes through interviews with other successful entrepreneurs and startup founders.

When we first decided to create a podcast there was a lot of debate about what the show would be about. After all, that is pretty important, right? That said, my co-host and I have had a lot of success doing a lot of different things. Let me also get that out of the way.

Get Started with Full Scale

Matt DeCoursey (Me) , co-founder of Full Scale, an international company with hundreds of employees worldwide. Full Scale helps companies build software development teams in our offices in the Philippines. Within the first year of founding Full Scale, we hired 185 employees, I’m still trying to wrap my arms around that by the way. Full Scale is owned by myself and Matt Watson, my co-host of the Startup Hustle podcast.

Founder of GigaBook, an online booking, and workflow efficiency platform. GigaBook helps its users turn their existing websites in real-time appointment booking sites through the use of our plugins (widgets).

My educational narrative as to how I once started a business in the extra bedroom of my home, then using nothing but a credit card with an $8000 limit I created multiple companies that over the next 8 years generated 30+ million dollars in revenue. Million Dollar Bedroom achieved #1 sales status in multiple categories at some point after it’s launch.

Author of Balance Me, A Realist’s Guide to a Successful Life. This book is my take on how you can achieve a greater sense of balance within your Personal, Professional and Physical life. There is also a free app that anyone can use with or without the book.Balance Me hit #1 in multiple categories after its launch and went as high as #5 in the Self-Help category.

Co-author of The Realist’s Guide to a Successful Life.Written with Joel Cummins the Keyboardist from Umphrey’s McGee. Using experience, I gained after 8 years in the music industry, combined with Joel’s 20+ years of experience as a touring musician we help advise those that wish to pursue a career in the music industry. The book also includes conversations with well-known musicians such as Jeff Coffin of the Dave Matthews Band, Taylor Hicks, Huey Lewis, Victor Wooten, and Susan Tedeschi.

Matt Watson (my Co-host and Business Partner)

Matt is still best known as the co-founder of VinSolutions, Kansas City-based SaaS company that was acquired by AutoTrader for 150M.

Founder and CEO of Stackify, an application performance monitoring company with users in 60+ countries. After exiting VinSolutions, Matt founded Stackify in order to provide affordable tools for software developers.

Matt Watson and I are quite similar and also quite different at the same time. This is what makes us excellent business partners as well as co-hosts of the Startup Hustle podcast. There is no doubt that Matt has already done what every entrepreneur hopes to do… meaning, exited a company for a huge payout! So if you aren’t interested in hearing what he has to say, then you are probably aren’t that serious about becoming a successful entrepreneur.

Now Back to WHY…

We quickly realized that the world did NOT need another anything that told the success story of two middle-aged white dudes from the suburbs but instead NEEDED something that instead told the story of the powerful and oftentimes expensive lessons we learned through our mistakes and failures. So that became our mission! Sure we discuss a lot of the wins we had, but usually, within the context of discussing the failures, we had along that way. Overall, our strong belief is that it is how we can offer the most value overall to our listeners.
